FREE GOG PC GAMES PRESENTSXenonauts (c) Goldhawk InteractiveXenonauts is a strategy game in which you control a multi-national military organisation defending a Cold War-era Earth from alien invasion, using small squads of persistent soldiers to eliminate the extraterrestrials and recover their technology in turn-based ground combat. A detailed strategic layer allows you to co-ordinate the defence of the planet, using your interceptors to shoot down UFOs and researching captured artefacts to learn about your foes and unlock new combat equipment to use on your missions.
The strategic and tactical layers of the game are directly related, with ground missions affecting the overall balance of the Geoscape and your research efforts on the recovered items unlocking new equipment for your squads and aircraft. Every management decision you make filters down to the troops you control in battle; every shot you fire could change the balance of strategic power.

One of the main complaints of the original Xenonauts was that it was very difficult. Combat was often way too slow, the UI was a beast to wrestle with and missions were often punishing for novice squad leaders. This early demo of the game is seeking to alleviate some of the difficulty issues for the sequel, as well as ensuring general game stability.
This early demo will be periodically updated via GOG Galaxy, with the next version set to release on February 28. However, playing this early technical test will not gain you access to the full game, with players having to buy the Steam Early Access version if they want to test Xenonauts 2 further.
You can download the demo right here and look out for the first update coming on Tuesday. Goldhawk Interactive are planning to release fortnightly updates to this single mission for a short while, before eventually switching to Steam Early Access and charging for this alien hunting strategy game.
Xenonauts is a turn-based science fiction video game developed and published as the maiden title of London-based independent game studio Goldhawk Interactive. The game utilizes the fundamental mechanics of the early X-COM games, in this case considered to be the real-time global air control and strategic management and research components of the game, coupled with turn-based ground combat where the player controls a squad of soldiers and vehicles against the alien forces. Soldiers can develop their attributes through combat experience. All terrain in the ground combat maps is destructible.
It's available for users with the operating system Windows Vista and more recent versions, and you can download it in English. The program version is 2016 and was updated on 01/04/2017. The information about the install size of Xenonauts is currently not available. It's very heavily used in Vietnam. Since the software was added to our catalog in 2016, it has obtained 14 downloads, and last week it achieved 1 download.
When X-COM cast off its hyphen and complexity to become XCOM, Xenonauts was handily here with old-school alien-busting. Now you can see how its sequel is shaping up, as developers Goldhawk Interactive are releasing development builds of Xenonauts 2 [official site] for free. You can play one single mission right now, then Goldhawk plan to expand this pre-alpha demo fortnightly. They'll start charging money once the game's in good enough shape but paying with feedback is peachy-dory for now.
Goldhawk plan to release updated builds fortnightly on a Tuesday, starting February 28th. It's free for now but will be coming paid to Steam Early Access later in development. The devs say, "we'll probably only start charging for the game when the Ground Combat and Geoscape are working and linked together."
To play Xenonauts you will need a minimum CPU equivalent to an Intel Pentium 4 2.00GHz. Whereas, an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 is recommended in order to run it. The minimum memory requirement for Xenonauts is 1 GB of RAM installed in your computer. Additionally, the game developers recommend somewhere around 2 GB of RAM in your system. Provided that you have at least an ATI FireGL T2-128 graphics card you can play the game. But, according to the developers the recommended graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce 7200 GS. You will need at least 3 GB of free disk space to install Xenonauts.

Hi, I have bought the game, as I think I love the concept and thought it would be work 20 bucks to play it. This was months ago and bought it on steam only to find out that steam doesnt have a MAC versions! Ok so I waited....and waited....so then I heard that there was a mac version on Desura. Bought that, still.....cant get a mac version so now I have bought the game twice and still no game to play. Can anyone help me out here as I feel that me buying the game 2 Xs should give me something to show for it.
I run the PC version easily on my mac and it works great, just download wine. now the problem is getting the experimental versions from Steam, in a pinch you can use wine on the pc version of steam too to download the game too, but it's a pain and slow.
Once you get Wine installed it's easy, but I forgot how how hard it was to install it, and I forgot how I did it, I think I used Macports, but to install Macports you have to install the the Xcode which is a free download from apple first.
Desura does have the Mac / Linux versions available for download on it, as does the Humble Store. There's a sticky on the Steam forums telling you that if you have a Steam key and want a Humble Store / Desura key you just need to email me - you don't need to buy it twice (also, the Steam browser on Mac / Linux shouldn't display Xenonauts or let you buy it).
I got X code installed, have the Driver for the command prompt....Now I cant get the terminal to work. I try to type it in every which way to get the homebrew installed but to no avail. Im extremely frustrated due to the fact that I have bought this game 2 times and still cant play it on a mac, help!
It's time for another update from the team busily working on Xenonauts! We have recently released V19 Stable of the game and have finished the process of porting the updates over to Mac and Linux uploading the game to Steam / Desura / Humble Store. These are all uploaded and should be authorised in the next 24 hours if they are not already available for download.
V19 Stable is basically three months of changes to the game rolled into a single large patch that has had much more testing than our usual updates, and should therefore be fairly stable (though it is still in beta and will not be completely bug-free).This is a brief summary of the improvements made in V19 over V18:
That only covers the changes at a very high level; the full changelog can be found here in a (very long) forum post. Things like balance and the AI are still being worked on, and there are still missing art assets that have not yet been completed. However V19 was the first time someone sat down and worked on balance for several weeks and the result is something that feels much more like a "game" than it has before. It's still a bit rough around the edges, perhaps, but you can see the final shape starting to emerge. 041b061a72
